What is BIOLOGY?
Biology is not just about some abstract word coded in long texts
and difficult language ..but if you see properly then
Anaesthesia.

Radiotherapy
Dentists or dental surgeons provide surgical,
medical and other forms of treatment for oral and
dental disorders and diseases by examining teeth
and mouth of the patients.
COURSES:
-Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery (B.H.M.S)
-Postgraduate Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine & Surgery
INSTITUTIONS-
Jawaharlal lal Nehru bhartiya chikitsa avum anusandhan
bhawan ,Delhi
and colleges affiliated to diff. universities for conducting
courses in the DHMS/ BHMS.
Course
. : To practice as a veterinarian it is essential to
have a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.).
INSTITUTES
College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
REMUNERATION
A govt. scientist be begins with a basic grade of Rs.
8000 which goes upto Rs. 15000 to Rs. 30000 per
month with promotions. The private companies
could pay a beginning salary of rs.20000 and rise up
to rs. 1,00,000 per month.
GENETIC ENGINEERING
‘GENETICS’ is the study of heredity.
. The carrier of genetic information inside animal & plant cells are
‘Chromosomes’ which are threadlike bodies. Genes present on
chromosomes determine individual characteristics.
MANIPULATION OF THESE GENES TO PRODUCE A DESIRED
INDIVIDUAL IS CALLED GENETIC ENGINEERING.
COURSES :MSc genetics
EMPLOYMENT AVENUES:
Employment in org. conducting on going research
in the field of medical science and agricultural
sciences are expected to grow.
National science and research org. are allocating
funds to finance research in this sector
excellent employment prospects are expected in
future.
Microbes are organisms that are not seen
with naked eyes yet increasingly they form
the foundation of life and are, in a sense, all
pervading.
This hidden world of bacteria and viruses
fall within the domain of microbiology and a
professional in this field is called
MICROBIOLOGIST.
COURSES
EMPLOYMENT AVENUES
Institutes:
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, and Kharagpur,
National Institute of Technology at Bhopal and Rourkela
Orissa); Calcutta University, Kolkata.
Job prospects and Work Area – one can find placement in various private &
govt. run pathology labs, & hospitals
BIOCHEMISTRY
Biochemistry is the study of the
chemistry of life.
It relies on sophisticated
instruments to dissect the
operation of systems that are
inaccessible to the human
senses.
It also reveals the workings of
the natural world, allowing
us to understand and
appreciate the unique
condition that we call life.
Qualifications in Biochemistry
Students attaining a degree in biochemistry receive an
excellent preparation for a scientific career.
The knowledge gained studying biochemistry is applicable
to many areas including agriculture, medicine and
biotechnology. Biochemistry graduates also possess
knowledge and expertise in laboratory techniques and
analysis in areas such as:
Biotechnology
Antibiotics
Molecular genetics
DNA analysis
Toxicological and environmental testing
Institutes:
Several universities and institutes
offer forestry courses throughout the
country.
Forensic science is primarily concerned with the
application of scientific principles for the investigation of
crime.
Using the very latest in technology, forensic scientists
convert the clues collected from a crime scene into
evidence admissible in a court of law.
It is the use or application of science in courts or legal
proceedings.
This is a challenging and interesting field for those who
are inquisitive and loves adventure.
Eligibility: To take up a masters course in
forensic science you need to be a graduate
preferably with a first division in Physics,
chemistry, zoology, botany, biochemistry,
microbiology, B.pharm, BDS or applied
science.

ADVANTAGES of opting BIOLOGY
Student can opt for PCB related as well as PCM related
career courses (engineering etc.) after 10+2 whereas all
these career options are close for a student who does not opt
for Biology at 10+2 level.
A student of Science can easily switch over to other streams
i.e. commerce or humanities after 10+2 if he wishes, which
is not possible for the students of other streams.
Opting for science gives the student a scientific
temperament; they also learn how to manage time, & work
hard ;
Concepts of Biology are such which are interesting, some of
them are so useful that the students always remember
throughout their lives.
