 1. The laws can be learned. Some are easier to understand
and apply than others, but every one of them can be
acquired.
 2. The laws can stand alone. Each law complements all the
others, but you don’t need one in order to learn another.
 3. The laws carry consequences with them. Apply the laws,
and people will follow you.
Violate or ignore them, and you will not be able to lead others.
 4. These laws are the foundation of leadership. Once you
learn the principles, you have to practice them and apply
them to your life.

 Success and goals are hardly achieved without leadership

 THE GREATER THE IMPACT YOU WANT TO MAKE, THE GREATER YOUR
INFLUENCE NEEDS TO BE. WHATEVER YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH IS
RESTRICTED BY YOUR ABILITY TO LEAD OTHERS.
 To increase your level of effectiveness, you have a couple of
choices. (Increase Dedication / Increase Leadership / Increase
both)
 Personal succes without leadership ability bring only limited
effectiveness.

 Every person has a potential to be a become a leader.

Looks can be decieving. Sometimes we look at a person, and
we assume that he has everything it takes to be a great leader.
 Why did Saul fail as Israel’s king while David who appeared to be
weaker, succeeded?

1 Sam. 9:1-2 NKJV - There was a man of Benjamin whose

name was Kish… a mighty man with power. And he had a
choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There
was not a more handsome person than he among the
children of Israel. From his shoulders upward he was taller
than any of the people.

Take a look at the similar paths the men traveled:

BOTH FACED GREAT CHALLENGES
BOTH HAD THE CHOICE TO CHANGE AND GROW

 They anointed by Samuel, the last jugde of the Hebrew nation.

 Saul never really understood the nature of leadership:
1. The day he was appointed king, he actually hid from the peaple.
2. After he tasted success, he mistook his position as king for real
leadership.
 David, siezed oppurtunities to grow in his leadership.
BOTH FACED GREAT CHALLENGES

 Both Saul and David heard the warrior’s challenge. Saul hide from
Goliath while David was eager to face the challenge and win
honor for God.
LESSON: What was Saul’s reaction? He offered David his armor.
While others wait to see what’s going to happen, leaders step
forward and rise to a challenge.
BOTH HAD THE CHOICE TO CHANGE AND
GROW

 When Saul disobediently made a burnt offering to God, Samuel

rebuked him. There is no record of sorrow or repentance by Saul.
Instead, the narrative continues with Saul’s campaign against the
Philistines. Evidently he kept going on the same course.
 After David committed adultery with Bathsheba and sent her
husband to his death, Nathan confronted him, and the king
sorrowfully repented.

In your leadership, have you now been more

like David or Saul? How could you say so?
