Introduction

• Laser Sensors are more effective and advanced as compared to IR sensors.

• IR sensors are very much effected by nearby lights , which can contain some of
amount of IR rays.

• So these affect the performance of IR sensors which will hinder the

performance when implemented in Real life.

• Laser Sensors which we will use will work on specific frequency of light, so
that our sensors will only activate if that specific frequency will fall on it.

• We are also adding a GSM Module for auto maintenance of Street Lights.
Objectives

• To study the existing street light control systems.

• To design energy efficient street light control system.

• To develop the hardware of control unit.

• To test and validate the designed system.

Methodology

• Literature review will be made to understand the existing street light control
systems and their limitations.

• The control unit will be designed according to the specifications.

• The finalized design of control circuit will be fabricated after choosing

appropriate components.

• The fabricated control circuit functioning will be observed and recorded.

Selection Of Components
Automatic Street light is the bird from Flintstones which will turn on all the street
lights in the absence of sunlight and switch it off in the presence of sunlight.
To implement it on practical circuits we need
1. Opamp uA741 (Fairchild)
2. Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)
3. Resistor (100k, 560E, 1k, 100k)
4. Capacitor (10µF)
5. Transistor (BC548)
6. Microcontroller Atmega 328P
7. Step Down Transformer
8. Zener Diodes and Regulator IC-7805
9. Laser Sensors
10. GSM Module

Results & Conclusion
• Our existing street light prototype was Energy efficient, upgrade to Laser
module will help our prototype to be actually implemented in practical use , as
Laser module is much more accurate than IR sensors.

• Outside interference will be reduced to a large extent when using Frequency

specific laser module.

• GSM module will send a message to registered number in case of defect of

street lights.

• This will make the street lights energy efficient as well as hassle free
maintenance which would really help the PWD Department of the city and in
turn help the Country.
