TRAITS OF
AN IDEAL
WIFE.
Marriage is an alliance entered
into by a man who can’t sleep
with the window shut, and a
woman who can’t sleep with the
window open.
- George Bernard Shaw
GOD HAS

FAMILY.

WHY ROLES ARE IMPORTANT?

a. Roles are important

for the proper
functioning of the
family.
Roles DO NOT imply
superiority, inferiority,
or inequality.
Men and women are
equal.
Galatians 3:28
"There is neither Jew nor
Gentile, neither slave nor free,
nor is there male and female,
for you are all one in Christ
Jesus."
ROLES are
determined by
GOD not by society
or by ability
ROLES are necessary
for effectiveness in
accomplishing
GOD’S PURPOSE
ROLES are
needed for
harmony in the
family.
ROLES are
needed for role
modelling
WHY ROLES ARE IMPORTANT?

b.When a husband and a

wife do not fulfill their
God-given roles, there is a
long term negative
impact on the family
1.Conflict, chaos, disharmony in the
family.
2.Gender confusion – children
become more prone to
homosexuality and lesbianism.
3.Bad examples
4.God is not glorified.
ROLE OF THE HUSBAND
Ephesians 5:23

"For the husband is the head of the

wife as Christ is the head of the
church, his body, of which he is the
Savior."
ROLE OF THE HUSBAND
1. LEADER
a. The husband is to be a servant
leader
b. The husband is responsible to God
for how he leads his wife and
children.
c. The husband is accountable for the
welfare of his wife and children
1 Timothy 3:2-4
2 Now the overseer is to be above
reproach, faithful to his
wife, temperate, self-controlled,
respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not
given to drunkenness, not violent but
gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of
money. 4 He must manage his own family
well and see that his children obey him,
and he must do so in a manner worthy of
full[a] respect.
d. The husband is to understand
his wife.
1 Peter 3:7
7 Husbands, in the same way be
considerate as you live with your
wives, and treat them with respect as
the weaker partner and as heirs with
you of the gracious gift of life, so that
nothing will hinder your prayers.
e. The husband is to provide.
1Timothy 5:8
"Anyone who does not provide
for their relatives, and especially
for their own household, has
denied the faith and is worse
than an unbeliever."
f. The husband is to PROTECT his wife.

Ephesians 5:27-29
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant
church, without stain or wrinkle or any other
blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this
same way, husbands ought to love their
wives as their own bodies. He who loves his
wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever
hated their own body, but they feed and care
for their body, just as Christ does the church

own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe

the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity
and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not
come from outward adornment, such as elaborate
hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine
clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner
self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is of great worth in God’s sight.
