Editorial Requirements

 Length of the BA/BSc thesis: 40 - 70 pages


 MA thesis: 60 - 100 pages;
 At least 3 chapters
 Microsoft Word editor (doc docx), Times New Roman font,
12 size, 1800 characters per page, which is approx. 30 lines
with 60 characters each; Eventually Open Office (odt)
 Space: 1,5 line;
 Margins: top, bottom, right: 2,5 cm, left: 3,5 cm;
 Two-sided print.
 A4 size
 Print and prepared on a CD version

Introduction

 Presentation of the subject of the thesis, explanation of used


terminology;
 Justification of the choice of the subject;
 Define research problems and objectives;
 Present hypotheses;
 List research methods;
 Present synthetically the content of the chapters;
 Present the state of knowledge about the given subject and the
character of used references –
 literature, reports, legal acts, Internet, etc.

Chapters and subchapters

 Chapters start from a new page


 The title of the chapter is written in bold with
capital letters;
 The title of subchapters are written in bold;
 The chapter may start with a short
introduction concerning its content.

Conclusion

 Summing up of the thesis


 It is necessary to include a statement concerning the
hypotheses of the thesis their justification as well as a
statement indicating of you achieve your objectives
(related to the thesis)
 A conclusion in three steps:
- Research conclucions (summarise understanding)
- Strategic conclusions (summarise judgement – new
understanding)
- Recommendations (practical steps, expectations)

Footnotes

 We always put a footnote if we quote or use


the thoughts of other people;
 Form of footnotes – after the citation we put
the name of the author, year of publication
and page number (e.g. Collins, 2012: 34);
 Variations – legal acts, websites, n° pages…

 Segregate in categories (Internet, articles,...)


 Check the first part of the presentation

Appendices

 Any appendix we want to attach to the thesis.


 Figures, table, charts, questionnaires we
used, etc.
 Sources must be provided.

Final Requirements

 student submits two copies of the thesis:


a) one in hardcover;
b) the second bound with the thinnest back;
c) two copies of the thesis must be approved
and signed by the promoter.
