Eu si EU

Human being has always

asked about particular
questions like: who am I?
Where do I come from?
Where am I going? Today
we, both boys and
girls, are sure we can say,
paraphrasing the
Descartes formula "Cogito
ergo sum", "so we are
boys and girls, because
we feel European ".
Eu si EU
Being European citizens means being
part of a real community formed by
citizens who think that Europe is their
destiny, their project and their hope.
Being European citizen, for us, means to
feel closer to our peers living in other
countries like Poland, Estonia, Romania
or Macedonia.
Eu si EU
Actually, all of us European
teenagers share an increasingly
similar societies, built on the same
values of freedom, equal rights and
wide opportunities to study and
work. Being citizen of United Europe
also means to be able to travel more
freely, to learn more about the daily
life, the customs and traditions of
other states. Free circulation
encourages not only travel for
tourism, but also commercial and
cultural exchanges.
To represent the European traffic between one state and another, we have structured an imaginary journey
through European capitals.

Madrid is the capital of Spain and geographically located in the center of Spain.
It is a city characterized by elegant avenues and large and well-kept parks, such as the Buen Retiro park. Many
European works of art are kept in Madrid. Madrid is the capital of nightlife and entertainment. Here you can always
find the right place for all tastes at all hours. In any season of the year, the city offers not only itineraries and walks in
search of historical and artistic beauties but at night it "animates".
There are also beautiful and well-known places all over the world. Some of these are:
The Royal Palace of Madrid: royal palace with 2000 rooms and a park;
The Prado Museum: a renowned collection of European art;
Il Parco del Retiro: a large 19th century park with fountains;
the Plaza Mayor: lively main square of Madrid.
Paris is the capital of France and is one of the most important cities in Europe, world center of art, fashion,
gastronomy and culture. Urban architecture dates back to the 19th century and is characterized by its wide
boulevards (avenues).
Suffice it to say that the famous avenue of Champs Elisèes is 3 km long. Another characteristic is the river
Seine that runs through the city and with its artistic activities gives it splendor. It is rich in monuments and
works known all over the world. Among them, the best known are: The Eiffel Tower, tower dating back to 800
meters high 324 meters; The Louvre Museum, a well-known museum in which famous works are gathered all
over the world; The Cathedral of Notre-Dame, famous Gothic style church; Palace of Versailles: immense 18th
century palace. And so on.

This extra opportunity for us, young people,
thanks to the possibility to study and work in
another country, promotes mutual knowledge,
interpersonal and intercultural relationships.
Therefore we have the duty to do more
towards this great possibility and to carry this
great project of United Europe out , not only
from the point of view commercial and
touristic but above all social. European
citizenship unites the link between our own
nationality and European citizenship.
Eu si EU
The EU is a form of supranational sovereignty since
it unites different nations together;
this means that we are Italian because we share
between us culture, traditions and language and
we are at the same time European because we
belong to a community of vaindividual states with
their many differences. Citizens of the European
Union traveling and moving around Europe create
bonds of friendship with other citizens of this
continent. Thanks to this relationship cultural
exchanges often take place, knowledge about uses
and costumes is increasing and we are learning
ways of living and different situations between
different nations.

Some of us , boys and girls at the
Erodoto School had the opportunity,
thanks to the Erasmus Plus WSE project,
to participate to a mobility
in Estonia during which we met and
make friends with students of four
partner countries.
Besides we keep in touch with them
quite every day. This is one of many
advantages that the inhabitants of the
European Union have, they increase
their knowledge and their cultural
baggage only making friends.
Eu si EU
But to improve relationships,it is
necessary to be tolerant, this is one
of the main reasons for which the
European Union was born. Tolerance
in a society appears in those who
show respect towards everyone and
everything is "different".It is
necessary to think and act believing
in different religious, social principles.
Eu si EU
The European Union originated in 1952
with the formation of the ECSC or the
European coal community and steel. In
this period some countries like Belgium,
France, Germany and Italy joined
together to share the production of these
two materials, so these six countries
united together in peace created an
atmosphere of respect, solidarity and
tolerance, which led to the formation of
the EU with 28 member states.
Eu si EU
Experimenting and implementing the WSE
project is helping us to feel ourselves more
European citizens, sharing and learning about
different cultures and traditions, establishing
friendly relations with young people from
different cultures and defining the link
between us and Europe.
