Sharia Cooperatives
Sharia cooperatives are forms of cooperatives that have principles, goals,
and business activities based on Islamic sharia, namely the Qur'an and
Assunah.
In general, this cooperative is a cooperative business entity that runs its
business activities based on sharia principles. All business units, products,
and operations of this cooperative are carried out in accordance with the
fatwa of the National Sharia Council (DSN) of the Indonesian Ulema
Council.
That way, in the operation of this cooperative will not be found elements
of usury, society, and ghara. In addition, this business entity is also not
permitted to carry out various derivative transactions like other Islamic
financial institutions.
The purpose of Islamic cooperatives is to help
improve their members and also the welfare of
the community in general, and to develop the
Indonesian economy in accordance with Islamic
principles
According to the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives SME in 2009
article 1, sharia cooperatives are a form of cooperative whose
business activities are engaged in financing, savings, in accordance
with profit sharing (Sharia) patterns, and investments.
Functions and Roles of Islamic Cooperatives

This type of cooperative has a specific function that is not


found in other types of cooperatives. Some of the functions of
Islamic cooperatives are as follows:

• 1. Build and develop all the potential that exists in each of


its members specifically, as well as improving the socio-
economic welfare of the community in general
• 2. Improve or improve the quality of the human resources of
members to be more trustworthy, professional, consistent,
and consistent, in carrying out the principles of economics
and Islamic sharia.
• 3. Trying to realize and improve the national economy which
is a joint effort based on the principles of democracy and
kinship
• 4. Become a forum or mediator that connects funders with
fund users so that the utilization of assets is more optimal.
• 5. Trying to strengthen each cooperative member so that
they cooperate with each other in exercising control over
the cooperative's operations.
• 6. Opening and expanding employment opportunities for
members and the wider community.
• 7. Help grow and develop various productive businesses of
cooperative members.
Sharia Cooperative Principles

In running their business, this cooperative has several


principles that are in accordance with the concept of sharia.
The principles of Islamic cooperatives are as follows:

• Wealth is a mandate from Allah Almighty and cannot be


owned by anyone absolutely.
• Every human being has the right and given the freedom to
bermu'amalah as long as it is in accordance with the
provisions of sharia.
• Mankind is the caliph of Allah and prosperous on this earth.
• Uphold justice, and reject all things related to the usury and
concentration of economic resources on a group of people.
Sharia Cooperative Platform
This cooperative has a certain foundation in conducting its business
activities, namely:
1. Based on Islamic sharia, namely Al-quram and Assunah in a helpful
way (ta'awun) and mutually reinforcing (takaful).
2. Based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
3. Based on the principle of family and shared interests.
Terms of Sharia Cooperative Business

In the operational process, the cooperative must meet certain


specified conditions, including:
• All activities in this cooperative are halal, good, useful, and
profitable business activities with a profit sharing system.
• This cooperative must carry out its function and role as a
business entity as stated in the cooperative business
certification.
• Every business carried out by this cooperative must refer to
the fatwa and provisions of the National Sharia Council of
the Indonesian Ulema Council.
• Every business run by this cooperative must not conflict with
the laws and regulations in force in Indonesia.
