DOES STRESS CAUSE CANCER?

According to the NATIONAL CANCER


INSTITUTE, although studies have shown that
stress factors such as, death of spouse, social
isolation, and medical school examination
alter the way the immune system function. They
have not provided scientific evidence of a direct
cause-and-effect relationship between these
immune system changes and development of
cancer.
• STRESS IS A REACTION OF THE BODY AND MIND
TO UNKIND OR CHALLENGING LIFE INCIDENTS
SUCH A TENSE FEELINGS,WORRY, AND
DISCOMFORT.
• THE IMBALANCE BETWEEN THE DEMAND FROM
THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE PERSON’S ABILITY
TO COPE CAN TRIGGER FEELINF ANXIETY.
• SOME RESPONSES LIKE BEING
IRRITATED,FRIGTHENED,OR ANXIOUS CAN
CAUSES HEADACHE ANT STOMACH ACHE.
WHAT CAUSES
STRESS?
A STRESSOR is an
event or a situstion that
causes stressful
situations, which are
seen as risk to the
well-being of a person.

that prepares the body

1).MAJOR LIFE CHANGES-majority of the stressors are
key life changers that influence an individuals family and
social life.

2).EVERYDAY PROBLEMS-the stress or “hassles” we


encounter everyday or occasional petty incidents are part
of this group.

3). PHYSICAL SURROUNDINGS- the immediate


surroundings afffect the of day to day stress.

4).OTHER STRESSOR-other stressor involving teenagers


include worrying about there future,conflict and
disagreements with family member,friends,and other

2).REST AND SLEEP- a very helpful way of reducing


stress and relieving tension is having a good amount of
rest and sleep.

done to counter the adverse effect of stress

calmdown and relax, relieving the stress

C).Meditation- is a technique that temporarily


“tunes out” the world , disregards outside
disterbances, and provide inner peaced.

D).Visualization- (creative imagery ) uses


imagination to relax and reduce stress.

• SEEK SUPPORT-in the course of a stressful event,


support from family members or friend keep emotional
health balance.

• PROBLEM SOLVING- it is a helpful mechanism that


aims to pinpoint the source of the problem and
determine solutions

• RELAXATION-unwiding events or calming skills health


manage stress and enhance overall coping
• PHYSICAL RECREATION-regular exercises like yoga,
meditation, and muscle relaxation are helpful in
handling stress

• ADJUSTING EXPECTATION-accepting different result


of situation in life may help in adjusting the stress
associated with any given change or outcome.

• VENTING- an expressing type of coping technique by


voicing out strong sentiments with friends or family.
STRESS- is the reaction to the stressors
and causes risk to an individual's comfort.
EUSTRESS- is the positive stress which
promotes growth, while
DISTRESS- is common negative stress
that causes poor performance.
STRESSORS- mostly come from major
life changes, physical surroundings, and
everyday problems.
