• It is not preserve of mechanical engineers any longer and has now
involved into a separate profession which looks at productivity for all
types of work in all types of business activities including the service
sector. It should be also be noted that the design and development
of improved methods and systems is not the exclusive preserve of
industrial engineers however the use of an industrial engineering
approach will make the carrying out of these tasks more effective.
