Narrative Text

a report of connected events, real or imaginary,


presented in a sequence of written or spoken words,
sounds, still or moving images, or a combination of
these or other such sensory experiences

The communicative purpose is to entertain the


readers.
Generic Structure
It is about the opening paragraph where
1. Orientation the characters of the story are introduced.
(what, who, when, where)

Where the problems in the story


2. Complication developed. (the problems develop)

Where the problems in the story is solved.


3. Resolution (happy ending or sad ending)
Grammatical Features
Using….
• Action verbs in past tense form (ran, asked, walked)
• Nouns as pronoun (The Princess, The King, etc.)
• Adjectives that forms noun phrase (short brown hair, two
monkeys, etc.)
• Time connective and conjunctions (and then, before, soon,
after,etc.)
• Adverbs and adverbial phrase (here, in the mountain, happily
ever after etc.)
