Purpose
This manual provides a guide for general
troubleshooting for the ZXUR 9000 GSM Base
Station Controller.
Overview

This manual describes how to perform the

general troubleshooting when users come
across BSC faults .The troubleshooting
procedures provided in the manual are
implemented by OMC engineers or field
engineers
Preparations

Before troubleshooting operations, make sure the

following preparations are done:
 Prepare the corresponding hardware
components notified in the hardware-related
alarms.
 Get the access authorization for the faulty site.
Prepare the necessary tools and instruments.
General Troubleshooting
 Checking Input Power and Power Distribution
 Checking Cable Connections
 Checking LED Indicators
 Checking Alarms
 Viewing Software and hardware Version
 Viewing MO Attributes
 Restarting a Board
 Restoring Configuration Backup Data
 Querying Logs and Exporting Logs
Checking Input Power and Power
Distribution

Checking Input power Power Distribution

 The input power should be
checked in case of power supply
failure in the cabinet. The rated
input voltage for ZXUR 9000 GSM
is -48 V DC. The allowed voltage
fluctuation range is from -57 V DC
to -40 V DC
 The power distribution subrack
provides power supply for all the
ZXUR 9000 GSM service
subracks. Make sure that the
power distribution subrack is
connected properly to service

Checking Cable Connections
The

The ZXUR 9000 GSM cables include the following

categories:
 Clock cables
 Service cables
 Other types of cables
Checking Clock Cable Connection
Line Clock Reference Inter-Shelf Clock
Cable Connection Reference Cable
Checking Service Cable Connection
The ZXUR 9000 GSM service cables
include the following types:

 Media plane optical

fiber/cable
 Control plane cable
 Interface optical fiber
 Interface cable
 Interface E1/T1 cable
Control Plane Cable

in a three-shelf cabinet . Control
plane cables are connected in
the same way for
EGBS/EGBS2a boards in
three-shelf cabinets. The example
is based on EGBS boards.
Checking Connection with Cables of Other Types

The cables used by ZXUR 9000 GSM

also include the following types:
 OMC network cable
 PD485 monitoring cable
OMC Network Cable Connection
network cable is connected to an
EGBS/EGBS2a control plane
switch board, and the other
end to a switch. The example is based
on EGBS boards.
Checking LED Indicators

Each board of the ZXUR 9000 GSM system has

running and status indicators. Some boards have
special function and feature indicators
Eg. PDF boards indicators
Checking Alarms

 Active Alarms
An active alarm refers to a fault alarm that is
generated, but not cleared.
 History Alarms
Detailed procedure describes
Querying Current Alarms 2-20
Querying History Alarms 2-26
Viewing Software Version Information

A version package organizes the released versions according to

the configuration files Users can view the software versions that
an NE downloads and runs.
 Steps
1. On the Software Version Management window, expand a sub
network node. Double-click Sub Network > ME > Controller-
OMP on the resource tree. The imported version packages of
the controller type is displayed,

Viewing MO Attributes

MO attributes contain the information

about all configuration parameters.
This procedure describes how to
query MO attributes and compare
engineering data design tables to
find attribute setting errors.
 Steps
 1. On the Configuration
Management window, click an
element under a subnetwork
node on the resource tree. The
MO management tree is
displayed in the down-left pane,
see fig MO Node

Restarting a Board

If a board is reset, the resources

associated with the board may
not be available, and the
BSC services on the board may be
interrupted. Consequently
alarms are reported.
Steps
1. On the Status Management window,
expand a subnetwork node.
Double-click
