HYPOTHETICAL
INTRODUCTION :

o Urban Entertainment centre can be defined


as family-oriented entertainment destinations. These centers
combine relaxation and recreation with entertainment to form an
overall experience.
o Retail needs entertainment to draw people in
and entertainment needs retail to support the overall operation.
o The goal of an Urban Entertainment Centers for
a city or developer is perhaps, to create tax revenue, or to sell
food, or merchandise, but for the visitor the overriding concept is
to have fun. Entertainment is the draw and a large part of what
creates the unique experience of the centre.

AIM:
• To have good understanding of the socio-cultural , geographic and economic aspects that
shape the Built environment
• To provide an environment which would have facilities that would not lead to the death of
the economy of the mall. Hence providing multifunctional spaces, spaces of cultural
meaning and value Like Amphitheater, gaming and leisure activity which would support
the existence of the mall if there is a competition.
The components of UEC :
• Movie hall

• Exibition and gallery
• Restaurent
• Gaming zone
• Walkways
• Sports complex
JUSTIFICATION :
• The net demand for retail space in shopping malls is expected to rise 81 per cent this year,
driven by strong economic trends and higher purchasing power of young population,
a JLL India report said.
• The goal of a UEC for a city or developer is, perhaps to create tax revenue, or to sell food,
or merchandis, but for the visitor the overriding concept is to have fun.
SCOPE :
• Any commercial development without proper plan keeping future in mind would lead
to problems like Inadequate parking, traffic and encroachments. Hence the Design is
approached keeping future aspects in mind
• Producing something more interactive and better platform for retail market to serve
society well as an architect.
• UEC’s have become spaces of social interaction , hence Keeping culture & social activities
as a strong point
• The conceptual idea behind a development of this sort would be to create “a stage for the
city”

LOCATION OF THE PROJECT:
• Chennai is a major commercial, cultural and
educational center in India and one of the four
metropolitan cities of India along
with Mumbai, NewDelhi and Kolkata.
• It serves as the capital of Tamil Nadu. Despite
the visible ‘westernization’, Chennai still remains
deep-rooted in culture and tradition.
• The city serves as the gateway to the southern part of India with tourists landing in the
city and then visiting the rest of the region.

The following factors help in choosing a better Cities for the proposal of
the UEC.
1. Economic growth - Per capita income of Hyderabad has been
increased in last 10 years.
2. Population and tourism – The city together with the adjoining
regions constitute the Chennai Metropolitan Area, which is the 36th-
largest urban area by population in the world.Chennai is among the
most-visited Indian cities by foreign tourists.
3. Land availability :- It is selected under JNNURM which envisage
planned development of the city.
4. Connectivity :- It is well connected with all three mode of transports.
5. Industrial development – The planned industrial growth of the city
led to the establishment of pharmaceuticals and electronics industry.

LIVE PROJECT
Resort is a place to spend holiday for relaxation and recreation so that one can give
dynamism to their leisure time. The difference between a normal city hotel and a
resort hotel should be clearly understood. It is the duty of the designer to cater to this
basic requirement. A resort hotel is not a transit stop but a destination.
NEED OF THE PROJECT
In the present context, Tourism in India holds a great potential to establish itself as a
significant means of economy. The establishment of beach resort will provide
hospitality for both domestic and foreign tourists and promote tourism ultimately
encouraging local economy. This project caters to design a facility that would focus on
providing its users social entertainment and recreational environment.
AIM and OBJECTIVE
• Site planning with special emphasis on the design on outdoor spaces, Land and
Water interface.
• Providing design solution considering the building functions and its relation with
climate and environment.
• To create spaces which can suffice all needs related to leisure and tourism.
• To design comfortable cottages which portray an environment of leisure and
promote interaction with nature.
