XPD :- Cross Polarization Discrimination.
This mean effect Vertical components interference on
Horizontal polarization and effect Horizontal components
interference on Vertical polarization.

Minimum XPD within the 1 dB co-polarized contour:

06 – 13 GHz  30 dB
15 – 38 GHz  27 dB

 Save antenna cost.
 Save Frequency spectrum.
 Double channel capacity and save bandwidth.
 Up to 7db antenna gain
no power splitter needed = 3.5 + 3.5
 We can send Up to 1G over MW
 If one link down we loss only 50% from data.

 Wave guide :-
We have Many diameter sizes for Wave

When we install Wave guide we must be

sure that it’s not bending hard.

© Ericsson AB 2007 LZU 108 6895 R1A Figure 1- 61 MINI-LINK TN System Description

To install Wave guide we install it as

Finally we use support arm to fix wave

1. Main idea to make XPIC alignment to
cancel the interference from each
polarization on another.

Ideal case that V&H be orthogonal, but for

practical case we have component for each
polarization on other polarization ,so each
polarization effect on another one.
θV θC θH
So we try to get Max. XPD value for link.

© Ericsson AB 2007 LZU 108 6895 R1A Figure 1- 63 MINI-LINK TN System Description
63
1. Turn off stand by and horizontal RAUs.
2. We make normal alignment with Vertical RAU to achieve max.
RSL value .
3. Turn on Horizontal RAU TX. power and check on RSL value for
Vertical and Horizontal RAUs.
4. Now we finish normal alignment , and we will start to make
HORN alignment.
5. Turn on V.TX. Power at side (A) ,Turn off V.TX. Power at side (B),
Turn off H.TX. Power at side (A) and Turn on H.TX. Power at side
(B).
6. Start to make horn alignment by rotate horn (or combiner ) left
and right till you get min. RSL value on V-site A and on H-site B.
7. Repeat all this step with all other RAUs till get the max xpd values
