Heat always moves from a warmer place to a cooler

place .It occurs only when there is a temperature
difference .

1- Conduction Heat transfer through a material, from one

particle to the next is called conduction. The heat entering this
metal rod is flowing to the ends.

Conduction
Conduction is the process whereby heat is transferred directly through a
material.
Those materials that conduct heat well are called thermal conductors,
while those that conduct heat poorly are known as thermal insulators.

Metal is a conductor, wood is an insulator. The metal conducts the

heat away from your hands, the wood does not conduct the heat
away from your hands as well as the metal
