Adverb Phrase
a group of words that does the work of an adverb.
Study the following pairs of sentences carefully:
1. (a) Rama ran quickly. (How?)
(b) Rama ran with great speed. (How?)
2. (a) He is coming now. (When?)
(b) He is coming at this very moment. (When?)
3. (a) You can buy it everywhere. (Where?)
(b) You can buy it in all places. (Where?)
An Adverb Phrase, like an Adverb, may modify an
Adjective or Adverb; as,
Quinine is good for malaria.
I have done well on the whole.

Adverbial Clause
An adverbial clause is a dependent clause that modifies
the verb of the main clause or an adjective or adverb .
There are several types of adverbial clauses, each with its
own subordinating conjunctions, as in the next slide.
Examples:
- People conserved water as public officials had
requested.
- Although most students dislike English courses, they
must take them in order to graduate.
- Some women are choosing coal mining as a job because
modern technology has improved working conditions.
