(Momordica Charantia Linn.) Extracts on
Blood Glucose Level.
7.1.1. Background of the research
• Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by
symptoms of hyperglycemia as a result of impaired insulin
secretion.
• Deficiency of insulin hormone that serves to utilize glucose as a
source of energy and synthesize fats caused by the pancreas is no
longer able to secreze insulin, while the deficiency of insulin
hormone relative due to insufficient production of insulin With body
requirements
• DM disease is very danger and can not be cured, so the use of
drugs is the main choice of the sulfonylurea and Biguanid group
better known as the trademark Glibenclamide
• Use of the drug as an anti-diabetes usually lasts long and causes
the emergence of unwanted side effects.
• One alternative to reduce the cost of treatment of DM disease is to
use pare fruit to swing blood glucose levels.Pare fruit content that
is useful to lower blood glucose is charantin.

later be known by
looking at estrogen
levels in the blood.

• The mechanism of action of the
charantin is to stimulate the beta cells of
the pancreas gland to produce more
insulin, and increase the reserve of
glycogen in the liver.While polyeptide-P
insulin lowers blood glucose levels
directly.

Recommendation
• Conclusion
• Fruit pare (Momordicia charantia) at a dose 500 mg/kg
of BB effectively lowers the blood glucose levels of the
human.
• Recommendation
• More research is needed to know the effect of pare
(Momordicia Charantia) against experimental diabetics
of human by induction of other diabetagon substances
and their influence To a picture of the histopathology of
β cells in the pancreatic gland.
