FOUR FACTORS OF ECONOMIC GROWTH
• Natural resources
• Human capital
• Capital Goods
• Entrepreneurship
NATURAL RESOURCES
• Gifts Nature
• Important to countries without them
countries must import the resources they
need (costly)
• If a country has natural resources it can also
trade them with other countries and make
money for the economy
HUMAN CAPITAL

and training of their people will have a more
valuable workforce that produces more goods
and services.
• People that have more training are more likely
to contribute to technological advances
INVESTMENT IN CAPITAL GOODS

unemployment.
• Encourages people to take risk, and in doing
so, they create better healthcare, education
and welfare programs
• The more entrepreneurs a country has the
higher the GDP will be.
ANALYSIS AND SYNTHESIS

• According to Malthus(1798) population grows more

quickly than the means of subsistence (food and
resources) to sustain it. Population will be controlled
either by preventive checks (lowering the number of
births, particularly by postponement of marriage age) or
by positive checks (increasing deaths as a result of ,
natural disasters, war). However, Karl Marx's views on
population were directly opposed to those of Malthus.
For Marx, population growth depended upon the
economic base of society.." He argued that
capitalism creates overpopulation.

CONCLUSIONS

• Overpopulation is a hindrance in the path of

philippine’s economic development. Family
planning awareness should be shown among
the younger generation. Smaller families
contribute to the well being individuals as well
as to philippine’s economy. Philippine’s vast
population puts a lot of stress on the
economic infrastracture. It is now the time
that we filipino took measure to control this
escalating population for the progress of our
economy, our country. 25
