Various caterpillars and webworms.
Only tougher mid-vein remains.
• Distinct Portions of Leaf Missing
Distinct notches cut from leaf margin
(weevil and beetle adult),
Circular holes cut from margin of leaf
(leaf cutter bees),
Small randomly scattered holes in leaf
(beetles, chafer beetle, weevils,
grasshoppers).
• Leaf Surfaces Damaged
Skeletonization of leaf surface
(Lepidopteran larvae, beetle larvae,
sawfly larvae, leaf beetle)

• Rolled Leaves
Leaves tied together with silken
threads or rolled into a tube often
harbour leaf rollers
• Leaf Mining
Leaf miners feed between the upper
and lower leaf surfaces. One can see
either the insect or frass in the
damaged area (discoloured or
swollen leaf tissue area), i.e. pea leaf
miner, serpentine leaf miner.
• Leaf rasping
