3. Fuzzy Logic
• Loosely based on the Boolean true or false logic, Fuzzy determines
the project priorities in the Portfolio management processes.
• It is widely used in construction projects to optimize cost-time trade
offs. This works out favorably for construction project managers
who want least cost routing to work out the logistics of having
material supplied on-site.
• One can model probability distributions to assess risks in
construction projects.
• Although, not give accurate reasoning, but acceptable reasoning.
AI IN PROJECT DELIVERY
• Near the end of project delivery, there are 3
areas where AI provides conflict-resolution
1. Risk Estimation
2. Resource Management
3. Predictive Analytics
1. Risk Estimation
• One can factor in budgeting and scheduling constraints
to make informed decisions on risk management.
• In Programmatic errors, algorithms may not perform as
expected and may deliver misleading results that have
serious consequences.
• As humans, we’re limited by our capacity to store and
reproduce information at will.
• With Machine learning one can retrieve parametric
information as and when required.
• For instance, one can can use past data such as
planned start and end dates to predict realistic
timelines for future projects. The system can add an
upper and lower bound to these dates to account for
delays within reason.

What is Factory Monitoring ?
• It is a process which optimizes production on the
basis of real-time data.
• A modern factory monitoring system identifies
process irregularities and automatically notifies
certain technicians or managers when needed.
• To speed up the troubleshooting process, smart
monitoring systems provide teams with the
necessary information and documentation –
anywhere, anytime, and on a wide range of
devices.
• Data can be collected from the machines directly
and automatically in real time.
• Intelligent software aggregates this data into
informative KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) with
options for quick and tracking of individual
products and components.
• Monitoring one’s factory in real time enables you
to respond instantly to all sorts of events
• The factory monitoring system is critically
important for the high productivity of the high-
mix/low-volume factory
Process sequence in Factory
Monitoring
1. Production monitoring
2. Material availability monitoring
3. Traceability
Production monitoring:
• Real-time collection of machine and process data
• Analysis, notification of the appropriate people, initiation of
corrective measures
• Automated reporting
Traceability:
• Recording of component and process data for all products
• Storing this data permits subsequent tracing c. Reliable process
interlocking
Indicators of weaknesses in factory
monitoring
It includes
• No real-time collection and visualization of
status and process data
• No integration of smart devices
• No traceable material and process information
about assembled products
• Reports and documentations are rigid and
paper-based
• High manual reporting effort
CASE STUDY
“The many parallel and complex work steps in our highly
flexible electronics production can be successfully
synchronized only on the basis of reliable and consistent real-
time data.”
Allesandro Bonara, Head of the ASM Electronics
Factory
ASM Traceability
• Process stability
• Maximum transparency
• Minimum effort
• Rapid data access
• Upgraded production
Results
▪ Low error rate due to the real-time collection
of production data
▪ Significant increase in the speed and reliability
of setup changeovers
▪ Optimized material flow and significantly
shorter travel distances
▪ Fewer in/out postings in the main material
