• Known for his simple architectural designs
consisting of clean lines and functional
waves.
• He did not focus much on the aesthetics of
his design but the strength of the
architecture.
• His main considerations in his structures
were austerity and function.

(AUGUST 15, 1928-NOVEMBER 15, 1994)
• A remarkable architect who design
numerous structures including residential
and commercial
buildings,churches,government
office,hotels,etc.
• His architectural design were describes as
original and modern with a touch of Filipino
culture and arts represented by the
presence of traditional forms and pattern in
his work.

JUAN NAKPIL
(MAY 26, 1899 - MAY 7, 1986)
• The most prominent elements in Juan Nakpil
architectural design were their strength, function
and aesthetics.
• His work were reflections of the Philippines
traditional and cultural heritage.
• A Filipino architect teacher and community
leader.
• In 1973, he was named one of the national artists
for architectural.
• He was regarded as the Dean of Filipino
Architects.

JOSE MARIA V. SARAGOZA
(DECEMBER 6, 1912-1994)
• Zaragoza’s architectural structure was a
mixture of modern and traditional designs.
• Most of his works involved religious
architectures,like churches and converts,
since he specialized in liturgical arts and
architectural in the International Institute
of Liturgical Art (IILA) in Rome .
• IILA honed him to develop new techniques
in designing Catholic Churches in the
Philippines.
MERALCO BUILDING IN ORTIGAS
ILDEFONSO P. SANTOS
SEPTEMER 5, 1929 - JANUARY 29, 2014)
• A famous landscape architect known for landscaping
plazas, gardens, hotels, playgrounds, commercial
centers, housing projects, park.
• He introduced outdoor shopping concepts though his
design of the Makati commercial center where
incorporated fountains, sculptures, landscape walks.
• A Filipino architect who was known for being the “Father
of Philippine Landscape Architecture.”
• He was recognized as a national artist of the Philippines
in the field of architecture in 2006.
