FUNCTIONS OF AC.

 1. TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE

 If temperature is above 25 degree Celsius, human body start to
become uncomfortable. Even if the temperature is between 20-25
degree Celsius

 2. TO CONTROL HUMIDITY
 If humidity is above 60%, then also human body start to become
uncomfortable.
HOW DOES AIRCONDITIONER WORK?
MAINTENANCE OF AC:
 CONDENSING UNIT- Clear any debris from around your outside unit. Leaves,
weeds, and other yard debris can blow and pile up next to your condenser.
Smaller pieces can get sucked inside causing a buildup and significantly
reduce the efficiency of your air conditioner.

 SPRING START-UP - Turn your system on and let it run a bit. Make note of any
problems or issues you will want to discuss with your HVAC professional when
they are performing your annual system tune-up.

 AIR FILTERS- Dirty filters will reduce your air conditioning systems efficiency.
Clogged air filters can also cause your evaporator to ice over. Remember to
change your filters every 3-6 months.
 COVER AND VENTS- If you need to turn on your air conditioning prior to
your annual service check and cleaning, remember to remove the cover
from the outside unit and clean and check any vents to make sure they
are clear.

 Annual System Safety Check and Cleaning- Annual service of ac is vital to

maintaining peak efficiency (which reduces your cooling costs) as well as
avoiding breakdowns and high-cost repairs during the hottest days of
summer.
 Clean evaporator and condensing unit
 Check refrigerant levels
 Clean and adjust blower components
 Check the controls and thermostat operation
 Lubrication of all moving parts
APPLICATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES
OF AC:
 1) Windows Air-conditioning System

To install one of these units, you need the space to make

a slot in the wall, and there should also be some open
space behind the wall.

Window air-conditioner units are reliable and simple-to

install solution to keep a room cool while avoiding the
costly construction of a centralair system.
2. Split Air-Conditioning System
 The outdoor unit, fitted outside the room, houses components like
the compressor, condenser and expansion valve.
3. Centralised Air-Conditioning System
 The central air conditioning plants or the systems are used when
large buildings, hotels, theaters, airports, shopping malls etc. are to
be air conditioned completely.
4. Packaged Air-Conditioning System
The window and split air conditioners are usually used for the small air
conditioning capacities up to 5 tons.
The central air conditioning systems are used for where the cooling loads
extend beyond 20 tons.
The packaged air conditioners are used for the cooling capacities in
between these two extremes.
The packaged air conditioners are available in the fixed rated capacities
of 3,5, 7, 10 and 15 tons.
These units are used commonly in places like restaurants, telephone
exchanges, homes, small halls, etc.
APPLICATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES
OF AC:
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN OPERATING:
 Change your air filter to keep it clean and reducing strain on the unit.

 Ensure an adequate and safe power supply to your unit.

 Avoid using an extension cord, which can become overheated and

cause a fire hazard.

 Make sure the space around your HVAC unit is clear of any
flammable and combustible items.

 Have your HVAC system inspected by a professional at least once a year,

or ideally in both spring and autumn.
 Make sure your window unit is properly anchored into your window so
that if a fire were to start, the seal between the bracket and the
opening will prevent the flames from coming into your home

 Check your fan and cooling unit occasionally to make sure cords and
plugs are in good condition. Make sure your air conditioner has a label
showing that it is listed by a recognized testing laboratory, such as
Underwriters Laboratories Inc., MET Laboratories Inc. or NSF
International.

 Other than visual safety inspections, you should have all HVAC work
done by a trained professional.
