What are Emotions?


Emotions is a physical response that is generated when one views a situation from
his/her own egoic perspective
There are six basic emotions that are universal throughout human cultures
 Fear
 Disgust
 Anger
 Surprise
 Happiness
 Sadness
Emotions
 Emotions interfered with productivity
 Emotions can’t be separated from the workplace
 Negative emotions can be damaging and lead to burn out
Types of emotions:
 Felt: the individual actual emotion
 Displayed: Required or appropriate emotion
Surface acting:
Displaying appropriately but mot feeling those emotions internally
Deep acting:
Changing internal feeling to match display rule- very stressful
What are Moods
Mood is an emotional state that may last anywhere from a few minutes to
several weeks.

Types of mood
 Positive Mood Negative Mood
JOY Angry
INTEREST Annoyed
SERENITY Apathetic
HOPE Bad
GRATITUDE Cranky
KINDNESS Depressed
SURPRISE (PLEASANT) Envious
CHEERFULNESS Frustrated
Mood

Negative Moods are Highest


At the Beginning of the Week
And show little variation throughout the day
Positive Moods are Highest
At the End of the Week
In the Middle Part of the Day
