Agood position paper will not only


provide facts but also make
proposals for resolutions.
 It includes all the required
information for consideration.
 Keepthe major points in your paper,
which you have gained through
research.
Basic Contents of a Position Paper

A brief introduction and history of the


topic;
 How the issue affects the country;
 Government’s policies with respect to
the issue and the government’s
justification for these policies;
 Quotes from the president and his
leaders about the issue;
 Statistics
to back up the
government’s position on the issue;
 Actions taken by the government
with regard to the issue;
 Conventions and resolutions that the
country has signed or ratified, if any;
 What the government believes
should be done to address the issue;
 What the country would like to
accomplish;
 How the positions of other
countries affect your country’s
position.
