Region XI: Davao Region
• It composed 4 provinces, 1 independent city, 4
component cities and 44 municipalities, grouped into
11 congressional districts and divided into 1,160
barangays.

• In terms of population, is the country’s 5th fastest


growing region with 4.8 million residents, making up
20% of Mindanao’s population and 5% of the
country’s total.
Competitive Advantage
• Davao Region is considered as a region of royalties, is home to
the Philippine Eagle- world’s largest eagle and king of
Philippine skies; Waling-waling- the queen of orchids;
irresistible Durian- the king of fruits; and Mt. Apo- the
country’s highest peak and king of Philippine mountains.

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
• Davao Region, designated as Region XI, is located in the southeastern
portion of the island of Mindanao. It is bounded on the north by the
provinces of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, and Bukidnon, on the
east by the Philippine Sea, and on the west by the Central Mindanao
provinces.
CLIMATE
• The region is blessed with good climate as it experiences Types
II and IV climate and lies outside the typhoon belt.
• Type II climate is characterized by no dry season with very
pronounced maximum rainfall from November to January.
This affects Davao Oriental and most parts of Compostela
Valley.
• Type IV climate is characterized by more or less evenly
distributed rainfall throughout the year and covers the rest of
the Davao Region area. Warm temperature is experienced from
February to October while the coolest months start from
November up to January.

• Due to its strategic location of being situated outside the


typhoon belt, the Davao region experiences uniform rainfall
distribution all year round and fewer typhoons.

Awao Falls
• Awao Falls is located in
Barangay Awao, Monkayo,
Compostela Valley. The
water cascades on an rough
irregular boulder that
creates a beautiful curtain of
waters that drops on a rocky
shallow basin below.
Tagbibinta Falls
• Tagbibinta Falls, the most majestic
waterfall in the province. The
strong rushing waters drops 700
feet down the catch basin. It is
being surrounded by verdant
foliage and greens while the
riverbed is composed of huge
boulders that serves as resting
grounds for visitors.
• This is WHITE White Peak
PEAK, also known
as Mount

Kopiat Island
• Kopiat Island is one the best tourist
spots in Compostela Valley off the
coasts of the southwestern portion
of its mainland. This 87-hectare

coconut trees, mangroves and white
sand beach. It is surrounded by
clear waters teeming with marine

Bulawan Festival
• This colourful gold festival of Compostela Valley is all about Compostela
Valley – a land of rich gold deposits, a land of golden-hearted and
industrious people with a rich cultural heritage, and a land of golden
opportunities awaiting those who desire to be part of the province’s
development.
Kaimonan Festival of Maco

• Kaimonan is a Mansaka term for thanksgiving for the blessings and


bountiful harvest. It is celebrated in accordance with the practices of
the tribe which were believed to be the original settlers of Maco.
Kariyawan Festival of Monkayo

• The festival is celebrated as a


thanksgiving for the
municipality’s rich
agricultural harvest and
abundant mineral resources.

DAVAO DEL SUR

• Davao del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Davao


Region in Mindanao. It’s subdivided into 14 municipalities and 1
cities, the provincial capital is Digos City and the province borders the
Davao City to the north, and Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South
Cotabato, and Sarangani to the west. To the east lies the Davao Gulf.

Davao Del Norte
• Davao Del Norte and once known simply as Davao, is a province of
the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao. It's
subdivided into 8 municipalities and 3 cities, the provincial capital is
Tagum City.
CHIEF INDUSTRIES
• Agriculture- The principal crops of the province include rice, maize,
banana, coconut, abacá, ramie, coffee, and a variety of fruit and root
crops. Davao del Norte is the country's leading producer of bananas,
with many plantations run by multinationals Dole and Del Monte, and
local producers such as Lapanday, TADECO, and Marsman. Davao del
Norte is also one of Mindanao's leading producer of rice.

• Fishing- Davao Gulf, to the south of the province, provides a living for
many fishermen. Some of the fish products include brackish water
milkfish, tilapia, shrimp, and crab; and freshwater catfish and tilapia.
• Mining- Davao del Norte is a major producer of gold, and its mining
resources include silica, silver, copper and elemental sulfur. Small-scale
gold mining activities thrive in several areas. There are also numerous
active quarries of commercial quantities of gravel, sand, and pebbles
for construction.

• Tourism- Tourism is also a major part of the economy of Davao del


Norte. There are a lot of beaches on Samal Island, the most famous of
which is Pearl Farm Beach Resort.

Kapayaan Festivals

• The region is the leader in the production of bananas and coconuts
contributing 45 percent of the country’s banana production and 22
