This course covers the Life and Works of Jose Rizal as National

Hero of the Philippines. This course is mandated in Republic Act


No. 1425 which covers Rizal’s biography and his writings,
particularly Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, some of his
essays and various correspondence.

This course aims to provide cadets with necessary Knowledge,


Understanding, Interpretation and Appreciation of the Life and
Works of Rizal as the National Hero of the country that will also
develop Nationalism among the cadets of this subject.
By the end of the course, the cadets should be able to:
1. Identify the relevance of studying The Life and Works of Jose Rizal
2. Discuss Jose Rizal’s life within the context of the 19th century Philippines.
3. Appreciate Rizal’s life and its effect in molding a national hero.
4. Analyze Rizal’s various works, particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo.
5. Organize Rizal’s ideas into various themes.
6. Demonstrate a critical reading of primary sources.
7. Interpret the values that can be derived from studying Rizal’s life and works.
8. Display the appreciation for education and love of country.
