INTRODUCTION TO IOT :
• IoT is essentially a platform where embedded devices are connected to the internet, so they can collect and
exchange data with each other.
• It enables devices to interact, collaborate and, learn from each other's experiences just like humans do.
• Wearable technology in healthcare includes electronic devices that consumers can wear, like Fitbits and
smartwatches, and are designed to collect the data of users' personal health and exercise.
• According to a recent IoT technology survey from Clutch, wearables are used primarily for singular functions
such as checking the time and tracking exercise.
• Wearable technology is often used to monitor a user's health. Given that such a device is in close contact with
the user, it can easily collect data. Wearables can be used to collect data on a user's health including: Heart
rate.
SMART CLOTHING :
• The category of smart clothing includes specially-made garments infused with
conductive silver-coated fibers which act as sensors that stream data in real
time to a smartphone and regular clothes that comes with added functionality.
• For example, Sensoria, the connected sports sock tracks user’s runs in detail.
Even big fashion brands are going smart with their clothes which monitors heart
rate, breathing and stress levels.
• Technical requirements. Smart wearables and garments have to be ruggedized
to support daily and/or sport activities. In addition, their batteries have to last
enough to power the embedded electronics during the activity to be monitored.
FITNESS TRACKERS :

• Normally worn on the wrists, fitness trackers keep track of the number of steps users take when they put it on.
Advanced versions of these trackers monitor heart rate and give an accurate data of the calories burned.
• Accelerometers are used in all trackers to determine the number of steps taken. Most activity trackers use
advanced 3 axis accelerometers to determine position in three dimensions for improved accuracy. Gyroscope
might also be used in association with accelerometers to take orientation and angular velocity into account.
• GPS in activity trackers helps to map the route and terrain on which the activity was performed.
• Heart rate sensors help to measure heart rates during exercise. Optical sensor, galvanic skin response sensor
or bioimpedance sensor can be used to measure heart rate in increasing order of accuracy.
• Smartwatches are an advanced version of fitness trackers providing much more than fitness tracking.
BENEFITS :
• Wearable devices are at the heart of every discussion related to the Internet of
Things (IoT).
• Wearable IoT tech consists of an array of devices which cover fitness, health and
entertainment requirements.
• Wearables are the most personable item that a person can own, they offer high
functionalities that can help one perfectly analyze his activities.
• When the Wearables become a part of IoT system, it is easier for enterprises,
manufacturers, retailers, automotive companies, and hospitals to build collaboration
between employees and devices.
