Introduction
• Road transport has a significant role in various industries and mobility services around
the globe and has a vital impact in our daily life.
• The purpose of sustainable development leads to the search of minimum energy
consumption practices, at least in the field of non-renewable resources.
• Cars will be lighter, quieter, connected, more comfortable and safer than today and
further they drive autonomously when required.
Objectives
The specific objectives of the work are:

• To investigate various vehicle technology for increased fuel efficiency.

• To improve vehicle fuel economy for saving money, reduce carbon emission and
reliance on oil.
Key Challenges for future mobility
Reduction of the absolute energy consumption of vehicles
The use of fuels from renewable energy sources
Avoidance of harmful emissions, particularly CO2, particles and noise
Increasing the safety of vehicle passengers and other road users and
Intelligent connection of vehicles with the urban and interurban transport system.

Technologies for increased fuel efficiency
• Improved engine efficiency

Internal Combustion Engines
Reduced aerodynamic drag
• However improvements in drag coefficients of passenger cars over the
years have largely been offset by increasing frontal areas.
• Reduced Vehicle Weight

1) The effective frontal surface area of the vehicle,

2) The shape of the vehicle, and
3) The speed at which the vehicle is traveling.
4) Use of different materials;
5) Use of tread patterns and geometries that reduce the deformation of the tire;
6) Use of wider single tires instead of dual-tire assemblies and
7) keeping tires inflated to the proper pressure, as defined by the tire manufacturer
Reduced Vehicle Weight

1) Remove or Save high electrical components

2) Fit lighter body panels:
3) Replace Glass window with poly carbonate
4) Lighter Wheels:
5) Put Less Fuel in your Tank:
6)Loose Body Weight:
Conclusion
• The combined effects of temperature and pressure must be taken into
account when designing cylinders.

• The value of stresses are higher near the interface region than the other
regions.

• The use of bimetallic compound cylinder is more convenient than increasing

the thickness of a cylinder in order to resist high pressure.
