In large scale turmeric boiling the conventional plants is used with
multiple cooker and boiler assembly placed on trolley. The plant is
provided with furnace, packed pressure vessels and mobile plant.
Here in boiling, the turmeric rhizomes are placed in the cooker and
the steam is supplied from the boiler to the pressure cooker and the
turmeric is boiled. In traditional plants the boiling is done by burning
the wood which is harmful for environment because it produce
smoke pollutants include fine particulates, nitrogen oxides, sulfur
oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds dioxins and
furans. So in order to reduce that pollutants solar system is used to
eliminate the burning of wood and to generate the sufficient heat
required to generate the steam.

 Applicability
 For boiling turmeric at form level in
medium quantity up to 40 to 50 kg . To boil
the turmeric in the form without use of
focial fuel or wood for production of steam
 It can also be used in Houshold application
for turmeric processing because of it
portability and low cost
 Techniques

 Parabolic solar collector : parabolic solar collector is used for

generation of steam needed for steam boiling .Focus of
reflection is apply on particular point provided with the
container in which water is stored . From the reflection 550
degree celsius temperature is produced sufficient to generate
the steam
 Piping : piping is used to connect the steam generated from
parabolic steam generator to the pressure cooker section up
to the pressure ranges from 1.05 bar .
 Pressure cooker : pressure cooker is used to cook or steam
boil the turmeric by using the steam only.
 Safety devices : To avoid the pressure more than 1.05 bar
pressure relife valve is used.
