Air Pollution Prevention
RA 8749: The Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999

 Requires establishments to control air emissions which are

harmful to the environment .
 Monitoring of emissions from pollution source facilities:
- Stationary sources (gen-set, boiler, oven)
- Mobile sources (vehicles, forklifts)
 Monitoring of ambient air.
INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY

Water Pollution Prevention
RA 9275: Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004

 Requires establishments to maintain clean water discharges to

protect the water bodies.
- Prohibits disposal of contaminated water.
 Industrial and domestic wastewater should be treated before it
can be released to a canal and/or river.

PD 1586: Philippine Environmental Impact Statement
Requires all establishments to:
a. Assess the impact to the environment of its existence and
operation.
Environmental Aspect-Impact Assessment (EAIA)

b. Establish an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the

prevention and mitigation of the negative impacts and
enhancement of positive impacts, during construction, operation
& abandonment phases of the project.
Environmental Aspect-Impact Assessment

Environmental Aspect- ANALYZE AND CLASSIFY WORK PROCESS

Impact Assessment (EAIA)
is the process of identifying IDENTIFY ASPECTS
significant aspects and its
corresponding
ASSESS THE ASSOCIATED IMPACTS
environmental impacts to
ensure that control measures
are in place. DETERMINE AND IMPLEMENT CONTROL
Objectives

• To identify significant aspects of MMPC’s operation and to

determine the aspects that have actual or potential significant
impacts on the environment, and how to control them.
• To use the significance rating of the environmental aspects as basis
in prioritizing MMPC Environmental Plans and Programs.
Scope

• All areas, manufacturing and non-manufacturing, routine

and non-routine activities, shall undergo the Environmental
Aspect-Impact Assessment (EAIA).

• The roles and responsibilities of concerned Service Providers

and Contractors shall also be covered by this procedure.
Definition of Terms

Environmental Aspect
Refers to the element of company’s
activities, products and services that
can interact with the environment.
These aspects should be
identified and assessed with respect
to its significance of impact to the
environment.
Definition of Terms

Significant Environmental Aspect (SEA)

Refers to the aspect which is rated as priority due to high degree
of actual or potential impact to the environment.

Significant Environmental Impact (SEI)

Refers to the impact which is rated with high degree of actual or
potential bad effect to the environment due to lack of
implemented controls.
Definition of Terms

Objective, Target and Program (OTP)

Is the overall environmental goal, arising from the environmental
policy, which the organization sets itself to achieve and which is
quantified where applicable.

Environmental Management Programs (EMP)

Refers to the list of planned activities for the attainment of
Environmental OTP.
