*Math –We will begin our new unit on Area and Perimeter when
we return from Thanksgiving Break. Students will be finding the
area and perimeter of 4 sided shapes as well as the missing side when
given the area or perimeter. They will also find the area of irregular
shapes.
* Reading – We will continue reading Sophia’s War. Students
will be taking notes while listening to the book. We will also begin
our unit on the elements of Poetry, Drama, and Prose.
* Writing/ELA – We will continue Unit 2 vocabulary. We
will also continue our Opinion Writing unit. We will begin learning
about different types of figurative language and their meanings.
* Social Studies – We will continue our Westward Expansion
Unit. We will be learning about the Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and
Clark, War of 1812, Impact on Native Americans, the Texas and the
Alamo, the Oregon Trail, and the Gold Rush. We will have several
classwork grades, but these are based off of readings. Our test will be
December 12th.
• If your child is on Reading Plus or Symphony
Math, please make sure they are completing
this for homework. They have time in class as
well to work on this.
• Progress Reports are in your child’s Thursday
folder. I do not need these back unless your
child made a C or below.

Math: Complete thirty minutes of Khan Academy.
These assignments will be the same until December
20th. If you complete all of them, please redo some that
you had trouble with.
Vocab: Look over vocabulary words for the week.
Students will need to take home their Vocabulary
spirals to study nightly. Words are also posted on the
blog. Our next quiz will be on Friday, November 22nd.
We will begin week 7 when we return from
Thanksgiving Break.
READ! Students should be reading 10-20 minutes
nightly. **READING PLUS for those students on it!
Grammar: Students can get on quill.org and complete
assignments.
Social Studies: review notes nightly
