OBJECTIVE

• Nowadays the wastage of electricity has become a routine thing for us, and the problem
has become frequent at homes, schools, colleges and even in industries. sometimes we
notice fans & lights keep on working even in the absence of people.
• However, there is a solution to control energy efficient use lights at home by using this
automation .
• Shows the number of persons inside the room.
• The ultimate aim of this system is to save the energy.
INTRODUCTION

• Automatic room lighting system is a microcontroller based project that automatically turn on
or off the lights in a room, when a person enters a room.
• In the present days automated systems have less manual operations, high flexibility, and
accurate.
• Usually when a person enters the room darkness, we find it difficult to locate the wall-
mounted switch board to switch ”on” the light.
• Here is our reliable circuit that takes over the task of switching “on” and switching “off” the
light automatically when somebody enters or leaves the room during darkness.
COMPONENTS REQUIRED
• 8051 architecture based microcontroller(89S51)
• 8051 development board
• 2 x Infrared sensors
• 16 x 2 LCD display
• 5V relay module
• Lamp with holder
• Connecting wires
• Power supply
8051 ARCHITECTURE
BASED
MICROCONTROLLER(89S51)

The AT89S51 is a low-power, high-

performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller .
The device is manufactured using Atmel's
high-density nonvolatile memory technology
8051 DEVELOPMENT
BOARD

• Excellent board for learning.

• 4x7 segment LED display.
2 X INFRARED SENSORS

IR An infrared sensor is an electronic device, that

emits in order to sense some aspects of the
surroundings.
LCD DISPLAY AND RELAY MODULE

• The 16*2 LCD display is a very basic module commonly used in various devices and
circuits.
• A 5v Relay module is used in this project.
CONNECTING WIRES , LAMP AND POWER SUPPLY

• Wire is a single, usually cylindrical, flexible connecting material. which bear mechanical
loads and electricity.
• Lamps are commonly called light bulbs. lamps usually have a base made of ceramic, metal,
glass or plastic, which secures the lamp in the socket of a light fixture.
ADVANTAGES

• Low cost.
• can be developed in a less period of time.
• Easy to use and accurate.
• Can be implemented in single door.
• for school/colleges/companies it will help to check if somebody is there in the
zone or not. If the data on the display unit zero the security guards can shut the
gate easily.
APPLICATION

• Can be used for counting purposes

• Can be used for automatic room light control
ADDITIONAL FEATURES

• During night time, when we go to sleep the lights be ON – timer to set

the time.
• if we have enough of light in day time – darkness sensors(LDR)
