PROJECT GUIDE: KAYALZILI M.E
 The present study is to investigate the
influence of replacement of stone dust and
steel slag for fine aggregate and coarse
aggregate on physical and chemical properties
of concrete mixes

 The problem arising from continuous

technological and industrial development is
the disposal of waste material.
 If some of the waste materials are found suitable in
concrete making, it is used to reduce the cost of
construction and also to reduce the disposal of waste
materials.
 The stone dust has been used as fine aggregate and
steel slag has been used as partially replaced
conventional coarse aggregate in concrete.
 In this study, the physical property of stone dust and
steel slag was investigated.
 The different percentages of stone dust and steel slag
contents(100 % of stone dust replacement for sand and
10%,20%,30%,40% and 50% of steel slag replacement
for coarse aggregate) are introduced to the concrete
mixtures.

 The compressive strength was obtained and the

strength of control concrete and concrete with stone
dust and steel slag was compared.
 Most of the volume of concrete is aggregates. Replacing all or
some portion of natural aggregates with steel slag would lead
to considerable environmental benefits.

 To reduce usage of sand in concrete.

 To study the mechanical strength of concrete.

 To reduce the environmental degradation and the cost of

disposal of the waste, thereby utilizing it effectively in
concrete.
 The demand of sand is high

 Transportation cost is high

 Environmental is highly polluted by disposal

of stone dust and steel slag.

 The area occupied by the wastage land is

more.
