WHAT IS LEARNING?

1.Behaviorist learning theory

2.Cognitivist learning theory
3.Constructivist learning theory
4.Experiential learning theory
5.Humanistic learning theory
6.Social- situational learning theory
BEHAVIORIST LEARNING THEORY

Behaviorism concerns the

observable change in behavior.
Behaviorists believe that learning is
provided by a change in actions
through an explorative process.
COGNITIVIST LEARNING THEORY

Cognitivism emerged when

researchers found out that
behaviorism did not account for all
types of learning. According to this
theory knowledge can be viewed as
scheme, that is, symbolic mental
constructions that are organized or
processed in the mind
CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING THEORY

Constructivism assumes that

learning is a process of constructing
knowledge rather than acquiring it.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING THEORY

Experiential learning theory is a

holistic perspective on learning that
combines experiences, perception,
cognition and behavior.
HUMANISTIC LEARNING THEORY

Humanists have priority for

human needs and interests.
SOCIAL- SITUATIONAL LEARNING THEORY

Social-Situational theorists
emphasis that; learning takes place
in social relationships. Social
learning theory posits that people
learn from observing other people.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
DEFINITION
Learning Environment refers to the whole range of components and activities within
which learning happens.
Learning Environment relies on computer-supported Systems such as a Learning
management system, a combination of various educational technologies like
communication module.
Learning environments are typically constructivist in nature, engaging learners in
"sense-making" or reasoning about extensive resource sets.
Learning Environment is the place where teaching and learning take place in the
most effective and productive manner. It consist of the classroom and all the
instructional features and non- threatening classroom climate needed in planning
and implementing all teaching and learning activities.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THEORIES
Learning environment theories focus on different constructs within the educational
system that include the student, society, and the content being taught. These
theories flow from the psychological theories of learning, which include cognitive
theories, social cognitive theories, and instructional system design theories
(Bertrand, 2003).
