OBJECTIVES:
The Learner:
1. Illustrates a probability distribution for a discrete
random variable and its purpose.
2. Solve problem involving probability distribution for a
discrete random variable
3. Apply probability distribution in real life situation
ACTIVITY (KRA 1:1):
EVENT (E) PROBABILITY P(E)
1. Getting an even number in a single roll of die 3/6 or 1/2
2. Getting a sum of 6 when two dice are rolled. 5/36
3. Getting an ace when a card is drawn from a deck. 4/52
4. The probability that all children are boys if a couple has tree children 1/8
5. Getting an odd number and a tail when a die is rolled and a coin is 3/12 or 1/4
tossed simultaneously.
6. Getting a sum of 11 when two dice are rolled at the same time 2/36 or 1/18
7. Getting a 10 black card when a cards is drawn firm a deck 2/52
8. Getting a red queen when a card is drawn from a deck 2/52
9. Getting a doubles when two dice are tossed 6/36
10. Getting a red ball from a box containing 3 red and 6 black balls 3/9 or 1/3
ANALYSIS:
1. What is your insight about the activity?
2. What did you learned about the activity?
3. What do you think our lesson for today?
ABSTRACTIOIN:
a discrete probability distribution or probability mas
function consist of the value a random variable can assum
and the corresponding probabilities of the values.
𝑃1 + 𝑃2 + 𝑃3 + . . . + 𝑃𝑛 , and
(𝑜 ≤ 𝑃1 ≤1) + (𝑜 ≤ 𝑃2 ≤1) + (𝑜 ≤ 𝑃3 ≤1) + . . . + (𝑜 ≤ 𝑃𝑛 ≤1)
PROPERTIES OF PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION :
1. The probability of each value of the random variabl
must be between or equal to 0 and 1. in symbol (𝑜 ≤ p≤1)
2. the sum of the probability of all values of the random
variable must be equal to 1. in symbol σ 𝑝 𝑥 = 1. KRA 1:2
EXAMPLE:
Tossed a two coins simultaneously up to ten (10) time
Construct the probability distribution of each tossed unt
you reach 10 tossed. Then create a histogram from th
activity.
GROUP EXERCISE (KRA 1:3):
Form the students into three (3) groups: each group
had been given 20 minutes to perform their activity
with the criteria based on the rubrics.
Group 1: tossed the three coins simultaneously up to twenty
(20) tossed. Construct a probability distribution of each tossed
until you reach 20 tossed. Then create a histogram from your
activity.
Group 2: tossed a three dice simultaneously up to twenty (20)
tossed. Construct the probability distribution of each tossed
until you reach 20 tossed.
Group 3: Draw a two playing cards simultaneously up to
twenty (20) draw. Construct a probability distribution of each
draw. Create a histogram from your assigned activity.
