A Comparative Analysis of Punjab and Haryana


Aim of the Project

To examine the role played by Community Radios in Punjab and Haryana in improving
the lives of the people living in its periphery.

To analyse the challenges faced by them.

Hypothesis 1 (H1)- The Community Radio Stations of have positive impact


on the lives of the People.

Hypothesis 2 (H2)- The relation between content of the CR stations and


needs of the people is positive.
Research Methodology

Coverage : A multi-stage sampling technique will be used.

- In the first stage, 8 districts and 4 districts would be sampled from a total of 14
districts of Haryana and Punjab respectively.
- The second stage involved the sampling of 8 cities from 8 districts and 4 cities from 4
districts in Punjab.
- The third and final stage involved the selection of communities and this will be
guided by factors like the size of the community (small or larger community
measured by population), availability of satellite centers and convenience in terms of
transport accessibility.
- In all, 8 CR stations will be selected from Haryana and 4 communities from Punjab
Data Collection : The study would be conducted in two phases, using Primary and
Secondary Data.

- In the first phase, we will collect primary Data using questionnaire survey. Also,
Focused Group Interviews, Stakeholder Interviews and meetings with the
stakeholders will be conducted.
- In the second phase we will conduct desk study to analyse already available material.

Data Analysis : Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software, CAQDAS will be
used to analyse qualitative data collected through focused group interviews and meetings
with stakeholders. i.e. the application of qualitative data analysis software. Correlation
quantitative data analysis method would be used to analyse quantitative data acquired
through survey questionnaire in SPSS.
Implications

- The study will enhance the understanding of needs of the people residing in the
periphery.
- It would communicate the requirements of the people to the stakeholders of the CR
Stations which will assist them in making required ratifications in the content.
