STRESS???

 is what we feel when we think we have lost


control of events.
 is a condition or feeling experienced when a
person perceives that demands exceed the
personal and social resources that the
individual is able to mobilise.

ACUTE STRESS???
 The most common form of stress.
 Deals with the pressures of the near future or
very recent past.
 Acute stress is a short-term stress.
 It does not have enough time to do damage.

CAUSES OF STRESS
• Minimum CPI – 6.5
• CPI < 6.5 means automatic cancellation of
registration (Relative to Absolute).
• Fail to clear comprehensive examination in first
attempt;
• Second attempt within 6 months; If fail, registration
will be automatically cancelled.
• Presentation of Synopsis: two journal papers;

• Fear of a failure.
• Not getting expected response from your Supervisor.
• Not so good relation with your Supervisor.
• Peer pressure.
• Unequal treatment by your Supervisor to his/her
students.
• Relational difficulties.

• Family problem and pressure.
• Rigid thinking, Lack of flexibility.
• Negative attitude (thinking of worst case scenario,
negative self-talk, pessimistic, negative competitive)

• Procrastination
• Problem in the choice of the research topic
• First author Vs 2nd author
• Co-workers don't do their fair share
• Etc.

1) Constantly feeling that you cannot work hard


enough.
2) Feeling overstress with your workload.
3) Feeling like you are not working to your ability.
4) Problem in focusing on any subject.

Try to "pace" instead of "race." Plan ahead and allow
