CONCEPT SELECTION
Justification Selection Criteria

1. Screening

a. Material Frame
In combination A, C and E are given a value of 0 because it uses aluminum alloy material where the material is the same as the benchmark
product (Pacific mountain MTB 26 Tranzline MX 1.0). Whereas the combination of B and D is given a value of + because it uses carbon fiber
material which has extreme strength and lightweight properties that contribute to good handling, especially at high speeds.

b. Ergonomics
Ergonomics in question is the size of the saddle size and type of saddle. In combination A, B and C given a value of 0 because it has the same
size as the benchmark product, Pacific Mountain MTB 26 Tranzline MX 1.0 with a size of 145mm and uses a type of saddle cutaway where
the type is the same as the benchmark product. While the combination D is given a value of + because it has a larger size than the
benchmark product that is equal to 165 mm and uses a type of saddle gel saddle that is softer and is expected to be comfortable for the user.
in combination E is given a value - because it has a smaller saddle size than a benchmark product that is 130 mm and uses the same type of
saddle cutaway as a benchmark product.
c. Brake canvass
The combination of A, B, C, D and E is given a value of + because it uses a better brake lining material than the Pacific mountain MTB 26
Tranzline MX 1.0 benchmark product. The combination of A, C and D uses carbon fiber material. The combination of B and E uses a brake
material in the form of a metal ceramic compound.
d. Pedal Material
The pedal material in combination A and B uses the same plastic material as the benchmark product so that it is given a value of 0. While the
combination of B, D and E is given a + value because it uses aluminum alloy material that is stronger than plastic.
e. Aesthetics
The aesthetics in question are based on the function of the bicycle namely mountain bikes and cross-country bicycles. Because we wanted a
bicycle product that could be used unisex, we chose a bicycle that had a design that was not too feminine or too macho. Therefore a bicycle
that functions as an all mountain bike is given a value of + namely a combination of B and E. while a combination of A, C and D is given a
value (-) because it functions as a cross-country bicycle.
f. Bicycle weight
In combination A, C and E given a value of 0 because it has the same weight as the benchmark product, Pacific Mountain MTB 26 Tranzline
MX 1.0 because it uses material. While the combination of B and E is given a value (+) because it has a lighter bicycle weight because it uses
carbon fiber material.
g. Security
The security used as a parameter is the padlock rope material. Padlock ropes used consist of outer and inner material. The material to be
developed is the outer material of the padlock rope. The combination of A, C, D and E is given a value (+) because it uses a strong and
flexible silicon material. While combination B is given a value of 0 because it uses the same material as a benchmark product that uses
plastic.

Conclusion:
After adding up the values of +, - and 0 from each combination. The following results are obtained a combination of A, B, C, D, and E has a
total score in a row 1, 5, 1, 5 and 3. In order to get a combination of B, D and E to proceed in the scoring process.
