Rain Detector
What is Rain Detector ?

Rain Alarm or Detector is an application

which detects the rain water and blows
alarm.
Components of Rain
Detector
Transistor BC547

Transistor is a semiconductor device

that can both conduct and insulate. A
transistor can act as a switch and an
amplifier. It converts audio waves
into electronic waves and resistor,
controlling electric current
LED (Lighting Emitting Diode)

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a

semiconductor device that emits visible
light when an electric current passes
through it. The light is not particularly
bright, but in most LEDs it is
monochromatic, occurring at a single
wavelength.
Buzzer

A buzzer or beeper is an audio

signalling device, which may be
mechanical, electromechanical, or
piezoelectric. Typical uses of buzzers
and beepers include alarm devices,
timers, and confirmation of user input
such as a mouse click or keystroke.
Circuit Switch

A device for making and breaking the

connection in an electric circuit.
Battery & Battery
Terminals
Battery:
Battery is used to provide the potential
difference across the circuit.

Battery Clip:
Battery Clip is used to connect the battery
with the circuit.
Rain Sensor

Rain sensor on the windshield of a car

A rain sensor or rain switch is a
switching device activated by rain fal.
Connecting Wires

Connecting wires allows an electrical

current to travel from one point on a
circuit to another because electricity
needs a medium through which it can
move. Most of the connecting wires
are made up of copper or aluminum.
Breadboard

A breadboard is a solderless device

for temporary prototype with
electronics and test circuit designs.
Most electronic components in
electronic circuits can be
interconnected by inserting their leads
or terminals into the holes and then
making connections through wires
where appropriate.
Circuit Diagram
Advantages of Rain Detector

● Conserve Water
● Prevent Disease Damage and Nutrient Loss
● Save Money on Fertilizer
● Increase the Life-span of your Irrigation System
● Prevent Groundwater and Waterways Pollution
Disadvantages of Rain Detector

● It will send signal or the LED will be glowing until the detector
becomes wet.
● If something is over that then the detector will not work until it
gets wet
● It does not tell about the speed of the rain which is fallen on the
roof.
