policy of the state to promote, regulate and protect the
professional practice of chemistry and to ensure the
continued development and high international standards of
the practice of Chemistry in the Philippines.
Definition of Terms
 Chemistry refers to the study, analysis, modification and calculations of
physico-chemical or biochemical properties of matter. Chemistry includes the
atomic, molecular surface and supra molecular composition and structure of
matter, properties and reactions, the changes which matter undergoes, the
energy involved, and the conditions under which such changes occur.

 Biochemistry is the study of chemical compound and process in biological

organisms, is included within the scope of chemistry for the purpose of R.A
10657.

 Registered Chemist refers to any person who is engaged in the professional

practice of chemistry duly registered with the Board and the Comission
 Registered Chemical Technician- refers to any person who is engaged in the
routine work of chemical analysis, chemical synthesis, and the sale of chemicals
and chemical equipment and apparatus duly registered with the Board and the
Commission, provided further that they work or practice under the supervision of
a registered chemist.

 Chemical analysis- refers to the physico-chemical or biochemical procedure which

involved the following techniques:
 a) measurement of properties, such as power of hydrogen (ph), oxidation-
reduction potential, density, atomic or molecular weight and others;
 b) use of methods such as titration, gravimetric analysis, electrochemical
measurements, spectroscopy, chromatography and others,
 c) preparation of a sample for chemical analysis
 d) computations
