A message is a piece of information or a
request that you send to someone or leave for
them when you cannot speak to them directly.
Determining the purpose of your message is the first step in
deciding what you want to say and how you want to say it. It is
essential to choose whether to inform, persuade or offer goodwill
via a message in the workplace.

Informative Messages-This purpose can be used to communicate

routine, repetitive, daily tasks, instructions, codes, steps and
procedures in the workplace.
Persuasive Messages-A persuasive message occurs when a person
attempts to convince an individual or group to take certain specific
actions.
Goodwill Messages- Goodwill messages are used
in the work place to show a sense of kindness and
friendliness.
Informative image- Informative images convey a simple
concept or information that can be expressed in a short
phrase or sentence. The text alternative should convey the
meaning or content that is displayed visually, which typically
isn’t a literal description of the image.
-A target audience is the group of people you hope to
influence with your message.

-A target audience is the person or group of people a piece of

writing is intended to reach. This audience is the person or group of
people the writer is aiming for or trying to reach. When a writer
knows the target audience, he or she will shape both the purpose
and tone of the writing to match the audience's needs and,
sometimes, expectations.
1.Keep the message simple, but deep in meaning.
2.Build behavior based on market and customer
insights.
3.Use the discipline of a framework.
• Inspire
• Educate
• Reinforce
4.Think broader than the typical CEO-delivered
message. And don’t disappear.
5.Put on your “real person” hat.
6.Tell a story.
7.Use 21st-century media and be unexpected.
8.Make the necessary investment.
Other medium used to present a message:

Electronic
Because of its convenience and the fact that it seems to be
everywhere, with people having 24/7 access, email has
become a default delivery system for information.
Print
Print media have an advantage over electronic
communication in that you won’t have to worry about how
the message looks on devices and computers with different
display settings.
Face-to-face
Face-to-face meetings let you get more personal, evaluate
the body language of your peers, demonstrate products and
use visual aids.
Teleconference
Telemeetings give you many of the same benefits of
face-to-face communications without the travel costs
and scheduling headaches.
Visual Aids
Using visual aids will better engage attendees and
make your points. Charts and graphs give a visual pop
to numbers you’re presenting, having an instant
impact on your audience.
