Inspection
• The visual examination or review
of raw materials
▫ Fabric,
▫ Buttons,
▫ Zippers,
▫ Sewing threads,
▫ Trims,
▫ Garment size
• According to the required standard or
specifications known as Inspection.
• Inspection is important for Apparel
Industry.
100% Inspection (Full Inspection)
• Hundred percent (100%) inspection means every unit must be
inspected.
• In this system, it is decided about the every unit would be
granted or rejected instead the lot of garments to be granted or
rejected.
• It can have an idea about the quality of garments by this system.
It is also informed that, all the defects are identified by 100%
inspection.
• Also informed that, if 100% inspections is done then needs more
time and cost.

1. Pre-Production Inspection

3. In-line Inspection (During production Inspection)
4. Final Inspection (Final Random Inspection)
Pre-Production Inspection
• This is done before production starts. Where then is a final
verification of the material used; style, cut and workmanship of
the garment or pre-production sample as per the customer
Requirements.
Initial Inspection
• This is done at the start of
production where a first batch of
garments is inspected; The
inspection is a preliminary stage
covering mainly style and
general appearance,
workmanship,
measurements, quality of
fabrics, components,
weight, color and/or
printing.
In-line Inspection
• This Inspection is done during production. It can be
performed several times depending quantity of ordered style /
article.
• The main objective of the in-line inspection is to identify the
faults and to rectify them within the process as far as possible.
• Normally it’s seen that 15-20%operationds are responsible
for 65-80% faults in garments.
Final Inspection
• This inspection depends on AQL which means Acceptable
Quality Level.
• During Inspection, defective goods are categorized as
Critical, Major or Minor according to their
importance to the customers.
• One critical defect can make us failure in result of
Inspection, so, we all need be more sincere about defects.

• Critical Defect is one that relates to a safety or legal
problem, or a delivery error which prevents distribution of
the product to the customer.

• Major defect is one that significantly affects the usefulness
or attractiveness of the product, because it always results in a
customer return and / or an immediate or later complaint.

• Minor defect is one which may not always be noticed by the
user, and which doesn’t really affect the usefulness or
attractiveness of the product.
Conclusion
• Inspection is most important function of Apparel Industry.
• In Apparel Industry Inspection is done in every section, 100%
Inspection to be completed after final stage.
• It's become necessary to maintain the quality right from the
production stage in order to deliver a satisfactory final product to
the consumer with the right quality which in turn results in getting
continuous orders from the same consumer.
