DEFINITION
▪ A technology that
superimposes a
computer-
generated image
on a user's view of
the real world,
thus providing a
composite view.
PROLOGUE
It has been a hot
topic in software
development circles
for a number of
years.
 Now it’s getting
renewed focus and
attention with the
release of products
like Google Glass.
ABSTRACT

▪ Augmented Reality is an innovation that

incorporates augmented reality technology to the
classical experiments, allowing the integration and
interaction of several technologies, developing
mixed experiments, both real and virtual, that is
visualized through a mobile device, such as
smartphone or tablet, for the purpose of creating
deeper and clearer vision of knowledge.
AR vs VR

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF AR

• To enhance a person’s performance and perception

of the world.
• It creates a system such that a user cannot tell the
difference between the real world and the virtual
augmentation of it.
TYPES OF AUGMENTED REALITY
 Marker Based Augmented Reality
 Marker less Augmented Reality
 Location Based Augmented Reality
MARKER BASED
AUGMENTED
REALITY
● QR code is the most
common type of
Marker-based
Augmented reality.
● Data in the form of
audio, video or image
can be augmented
● The Marker-based AR
approach is also called
as Recognition-
based Augmented
reality.
MARKER-LESS
AUGMENTED
REALITY

No prior
knowledge of the
users environment
Its a combination
of camera system,
sensors and
complex maths.
LOCATION BASED
AUGMENTED
REALITY
 Location based
augmented reality
ties AR content to
a specific location.
 Its placing virtual

objects anchored
to the real world.
 Eg: Pokemon Go.
