Adverbs with and without ‘-ly’: ‘carefully’,


Congratulations! As you can ‘fast’
see we use some adverbs 1. Na adverb adds to the meaning of a
with ‘-ly’ however others verb. Adverbs of manner tells us how
adverbs we use without ‘-ly’. something happens:

2. We form adverbs of manner by adding –


adverbs ly to na adjective: slow/slowly.
After a consonante, -y changes to –i:
adjectives heavy/heavily.
It was a slow train./The train went
slowly. It was heavy rain./Itrained
heavily.

3. We can use some words as adjectives or


adverbs without adding –ly or –ily:
It was a fast train/The train went fast.

Daniel was born with a brain disorder (a tipe of illness).


Because of it, Daniel was different/differently from other
children. As a boy, he liked to play alone and acted
strange/stragely around others. In school, he struggled* to do
good/well. To many of his classmates, Daniel seemed
unusual/unusually and they laughed at him. This hurt Daniel
deep/deepply, and he became very shy/shyly.
As a teenager, things changed. Daniel discovered he had an
incredible ability. He could solve difficult math problems
almost instant/instantly. He also discovered another talent: he
could learn to speak a language very quick/quickly. Today, he
is fluente/fluently in twelve languages.
As an adult, Daniel has overcome his shyness. He wrote two
books and now he travels constant/constantly to talk to
