INTRODUCTION

The 555 timer IC is an integrated circuit (chip) used in a variety

of timer, pulse generation, and oscillator applications.
The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and
as a flip-flop element.

555 timer is used in almost every

electronic circuit today. For a 555 timer
working as a flip flop or as a multi-
vibrator, it has a particular set of
configurations.

BLOCK DIAGRAM DESCRIPTION

1. A 555 timer has two comparators, which are basically 2 op-

amps), an R-S flip-flop, two transistors and a resistive network.
Resistive network consists of three equal resistors and acts as a
voltage divider.
2. Comparator 1 compares threshold voltage with a reference
voltage + 2/3 VCC volts.
3. Comparator 2 compares the trigger voltage with a reference
voltage + 1/3 VCC volts.

APPLICATION OF 555 TIMER

Touch sensor :
A touch sensor is a type of equipment that captures and
records physical touch or embrace on a device and/or object. It
enables a device or object to detect touch, typically by a human
user or operator. A touch sensor may also be called a touch
detector.
