Transition to SAP S/4HANA: S/4HANA Architecture and Data Model - Finance

• Concept: “Take the best of all worlds” (e.g.

ledger, market segment, coding block, etc.)
• One line item table with full detail for all
applications - for instant insight & easy
extensibility
• This replaces the “logical document” of SAP
Accounting 1.0.
• Data stored only once: no more reconciliation
needed - by design
• Reduction of memory footprint through
elimination of redundancy.
• Fast multi-dimensional reporting
possible without replicating data to business
warehouse (BW).
• If BW is in place anyway, only one single
extractor needed.
• Secondary cost elements are now
G/L accounts.

Simplification List

The Simplification List is a collection of Simplification Items. Within a Simplification Item it is described what is the difference of a
functionality between SAP Business Suite and SAP S/4HANA.
 Currently the Simplification List provides this information per each dedicated SAP S/4HANA On-Premise release, and
 Will be provided as part of the SAP S/4HANA documentation.
 A Simplification Item does have a simplification category and provides information about the potential impact for the customer.
 Based on the simplification item custom code check analysis can be executed.
 Will be used by the SAP Readiness Check

to determine relevant Simplification Items and mandatory application specific preparation steps.
 SI Checks are executed again as step in the Software Update Manager (SUM). In case dedicated Simplification Items require mandatory
preparation steps the conversion procedure can stop to ensure a consistent system conversion.
