7. AUTHENTICITY
Assessment should touch real life situations
and should emphasize practicality.

 Authentic Assessment (a.k.a. performance


assessment, alternative assessment, and direct
assessment)
-A form of assessment in which students are
asked to perform real-world task that demonstrate
meaningful application of essential knowledge and
skills.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO ASSESS
AUTHENTICALLY?

 Authentic assessments are direct measures


 Authentic assessments capture the constructive
nature of learning
 Authentic assessment integrate teaching,
learning, and assessment
 Authentic assessment provide multiple paths to
demonstration
8. PRACTICALITY & EFFICIENCY

Assessment should save time, money, etc. It


should be resourceful.

Teachers should consider:


 Familiarity of the method

 Time required

 Complexity of administration

 Ease of scoring

 Ease of interpretation

 Cost
9. ASSESSMENT IS A CONTINUOUS PROCESS
It is an integral part of teaching- learning
process, it should be continuous.

Assessment forms:
 Placement Assessment – done before instruction to assess the
learners’ need and determine their capacities and capabilities,
 Formative Assessment – done during instruction to monitor
students’ progress and reinforce learning
 Diagnostic Assessment – done to see the problems and
learning difficulties of the students
 Summative Assessment – done after instruction to assess
student’s achievement and the result of the teaching- learning
process
10. ETHICS IN ASSESSMENT

It should not derogate the students.


Ex: The right to confidentiality

11. CLEAR COMMUNICATION


Results should be communicated to the
learners and the people involved. It should also be
established between the teacher and the learners
by way of pre- and post-test reviews.
12. POSITIVITY OF CONSEQUENCES

Assessment should have a positive effect.


It should motivate the learners to learn and do
more, and should give way to improve the
teacher’s instruction.
