components.
4 Types of
power
connector
The Motherboard Power
Connector
• The motherboard power connector has
either a 20- or 24-pin Advanced
Technology Extended(ATX)power
cable, while the Power Supply has a four-
pin Auxiliary(AUX)connector that is
connected to the motherboard.
Installation Procedure:
• Align the 20-pin ATX
connector with the
socket on the
motherboard
• Gently press down
until the clip locks
into the place.
• Align the 4-pin AUX
connector with the
socket on the
motherboard.
• Gently press down until
the clip is locks into the
place
SATA Power Connector
• The Serial Advanced Technology
Attachment (SATA) connector has a 15
pins that is used to connect to hard disk
drive ,optical drive, or any other device
that has a SATA power socket.
Installation Procedure:
• Align the SATA power
connector with the
socket on the drive.
• Gently plug the
connector into the
socket.
Molex Power Connector
• Drives that do not have a SATA power
socket would usually have a Molex
power connector.
Installation Procedure:
• Align the molex power
connector with the
socket on the drive.
• Gently plug the
connector into the
socket.

NOTE: do not use both a molex and SATA connector at the same time in a single
drive.
Berg Power Connector
• This has a four pin connector which is
used to supply power to a floppy drive.
Installation Procedure:
• Align the power
connector with the
socket on th drive.
• Gently plug the
connector into the
socket.
Miscellaneous
• The miscellaneous components are the fans,
buttons, and lights

NOTE: refer to the motherboard’s manual in order to identify the appropriate sockets
and connectors.
Connecting Data Cables
• The data cables used to connect the drive to the
motherboard.
3 types of data
cables
Parallel Advanced Technology
Attachment(PATA) Data Cable
• It is usually reffered to as a ribbon cable, since
it is flat and wide. It consists of either 40 or 80
conductors and usally has 3 40-pin
connectors.
Installation procedure

NOTE:A stripe on the data cable indicates pin1. if the indicators are not properly aligned the drive
will not function.
Reattaching Side Panels To The Case
• Despite the difference of the system case form factor,
the side panels are usually replaced in the same
manner that is removed.once it is in place, simply
secure it with the proper screws.

NOTE:Refer to the user manual of the system case or visit the manufacturer’s website to
verify the proper procedure.
Connecting External Cables
• All external cables are attached or plugged at
the back of the system case. These usually
include the monitor, keyboard, mouse, USB
device, ethernet, and power cable.
1. Plug the monitor cable
into the video port and
secure it by tightening the
screws on the connector.

2. Plug the keyboard
