 What is AI?

 AI is the branch of computer

science that is concerned with
the automation of intelligent
behavior
OR simply

The capability of a machine to imitate

intelligent human behavior
APPLICATIONS OF AI
 Power Plants
 Hospitals and
medicine
 Heavy industry
 Transportation
 Toys and games
 Aviation
AI IN POWER STATIONS

AI based power plants :

Thermal power plant

Hydel power plant

Nuclear power plant

LINESCOUT ROBOT
Replacing human
workers for
dangerous and
highly specialized
operations ,such as
live maintenance of
high voltage
transmission lines
has been a long
standing effort in the
power community.
Specifications of linescout robot
The three-axis robotic arm has been
designed to reach the four
conductors of a typical transmission
line. One end of the arm is equipped
with a pointable camera and the other
can hold a variety of tools for tasks
such as:
High quality visualinspections
Infrared inspection
Checking the condition
of splices by measuring
their electricalresistance
Tightening and loosening
bolted assemblies
Temporary repair of broken
conductor strands.

SNAKE ARM ROBOT
The high number of
degrees of freedom
allows the arm to
‘snake’ along a path
or around an
obstacle, hence the
name ‘snake arm’.
The snake arm can
perform variety of
inspections and
maintenance tasks.

Advantages of AI
 Jobs

 They don’t stop

 No risk of harm

 Act as helpers

 Their function is limitless

Disadvantages of AI
 Over reliance of AI

 Human feel

 Inferior

 Misuse

 Ethically wrong
AI PAVES WAY FOR FIRST VIRTUAL
POWER PLANT (VPP)
A virtual power plant (VPP) is a
cloud-based distributed power
plant that aggregates the
capacities of heterogeneous
distributed energy resources
(DER) for the purposes of
enhancing power generation, as
well as trading or selling power on
the electricity market.

 The advanced technology uses

Artificial Intelligence (AI) to
enable integration of various
types of energy into smart grid.
Conclusion
The truth is we don’t know what is
going to happen (can’t predict the
future), until mankind eventually gives
birth to AI and let it be. Currently all
we can do is speculate, so many of the
points of ‘advantages and
disadvantages for artificial
intelligence’ above are just guesses,
we might (and probably) will face an
entirely different array of benefits and
problems.
