Adjectives Activity pack

Instructions
Picture a car in your mind
Do you have an image in your head?

NOW MAKE IT RED

Now make it red.

NOW MAKE IT FAST
NOW MAKE IT BROKEN
NOW MAKE IT VINTAGE
NOW MAKE IT GREEN
Adjectives change the
meaning of a noun
by somehow changing
the image of it.
This is how we can describe the different cars.
• It is a red car
• It is a fast Car
• It is a broken car
• It is a vintage car
• It is a green car

End of activity 1
Let us sing a song
I am sure you all know the happy birthday song,
lets sing it together.

Happy Birthday to You

Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday Dear (name)
Happy Birthday to You.
From good friends and true,
From old friends and new,
May good luck go with you
And happiness too.
Now let us sing it again, but this time without
the adjectives.

Birthday birthday to you

Birthday anita
Birthday to you
From friends ,friends and friends
May luck go with you and happiness too
So you see how much of a difference do adjectives make !! Try
thinking of other songs and then try singing them without adjectives
and you will know how important these adjectives are.

End of activity 2
The previous example clearly illustrates the importance of
adjectives in our day to day English speaking

Now look at this…I have apples

Say you are hungry and want to eat apples..how would you ask for them?

Which apple do you want? What kind of apple do you want? How many apples do you want? Do u want the rotten apple?
My Teacher’s Cat – Grammar Game

Complete the sentence: My teacher’s cat is a/an __________ cat.

Instruction: Use adjectives to fill in the blank in alphabetical order

My teacher’s cat - A classroom fun game
Objective
In this version of the game (based on the Scottish game The minister’s cat), children
revise and practise adjectives that describe people or animals.
Method
• You can play this game with your friends or your class. Get each child to use the full
sentence:
My teacher’s cat is a/an… cat.
• Start with the letter A and work round the class. Some letters are tricky and you
might need to help! It doesn’t matter if the adjectives are not completely correct;
this game should be fun.
My teacher’s cat
For example:
• My teacher’s cat is an agile cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a beautiful cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a cute cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a dangerous cat.
• My teacher’s cat is an elegant cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a faithful cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a graceful cat.
My teacher’s cat
Difficult letters
Q doesn’t have many options; some good ones are:
quiet quaint quixotic

X is always difficult; some possible – and unrealistic – options are:

xeroxing xylophone-playing

Z is also tricky; options include:

Zealous zany
My teacher’s cat
Make this harder…
There could be a harder by having the first child give an adjective; the second child give
the comparative form of that adjective; and the third child give the superlative form
of that adjective. For example:
• My teacher’s cat is an anxious cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a more anxious cat.
• My teacher’s cat is the most anxious cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a good cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a better cat.
• My teacher’s cat is the best cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a happy cat.
• My teacher’s cat is a happier cat.
• My teacher’s cat is the happiest cat.
Thank you !
