 Report- derived from a Latin word
“reportare” which means to carry
back (re=back + portare= to
carry).
 A report is a description of an
event carried back to someone
who was not present on the scene.
 A memorandums, letters and new
items are examples of report.
A report is an account of something.
 A formal report presents in
organized form the information that
has been requested by an authorized
person.
 A report is a communication from
someone who has information, to
someone who wants to use that
information.

A technical report is a written
statement of the facts of a
situation, project, process or
test; how these facts were
ascertained; their significance;
the conclusion that have been
drawn from the; the
recommendations that are being
made.

1. Progress Report-long term project or
work is undertaken.
2. Laboratory Report- experiments in the
lab to test a theory or to examine the
validity of your research findings
3. Inspection Report- result of the
product inspected as a part of quality
control.
4. Inventory Report- stock of equipment,
furniture, stationery etc.

Routine Reports
5. Annual Report-periodic evaluation of
the performance and general product
of their employees.
6. Sales Report- record of product sold
during a particular time by a
salesperson or their management.
7. Field Report- description of people,
places or events and to analyze data
in relation to the research problem.
